What is wCharge?

wCharge is a subscription-based application offered through your wireless carrier's mobile shop that can be installed on your mobile device or accessed through your handsets mobile browser. Once registered and installed, the application enables remote processing of VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover credit cards using your mobile device and a payment gateway. wCharge offers a fast and secure way of accepting credit cards wirelessly.

What are the costs associated with using wCharge?

In order to use wCharge, you must associate a payment gateway with your account so that you can process transactions. You will also need to either purchase the wCharge application from your wireless carrier or access the application through your handsets mobile browser. All costs listed below are for each phone number associated to your wCharge account:

  • The cost for downloading the application from Verizon is $8.99 per month and is added to your regular Verizon Wireless bill.
  • The cost for downloading the application from AT&T is $8.99 per month and is added to your regular AT&T bill.
  • The cost for using the application for iPhone is $4.99 per month.
  • The cost for using the application for Android is $4.99 per month.
  • The cost for using the application for Blackberry is $4.99 per month.
  • The cost for using the application through a mobile browser is $4.99 per month.
  • The cost for your payment gateway can be found on your gateway’s website and documentation.

What payment gateways are supported by wCharge?

wCharge currently supports the following gateways:

  • PayPal
  • Payflow Pro
  • Authorize.net
  • e-Onlinedata

What Paypal account is needed to run transactions through my phone?

You will need a PayPal Business account with Websites Payments Pro activated in order to run transactions using wCharge.

What types of credit cards can I accept?

The types of credit cards that you can accept depends on the agreement that you have with your payment gateway. wCharge has been tested and verified with Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover cards.

How do I get wCharge on my mobile device?

When you sign up for wCharge, we'll tell you the best way to get the application on your mobile device depending on your carrier and your device.

I tried to login with an incorrect PIN and my account won't work. What do I do?

Entering an incorrect PIN 5 times will cause the system to erase all information on your mobile device for security purposes. You may still access all information by accessing your PayPal merchant account.

To retrieve your correct PIN, go to http://www.wcharge.com/ and select the "Forgot your PIN? Click here to retrieve it." link. Once your PIN has been sent to you, you will need to complete setup again.

  1. From the main menu, click on the Setup Options screen.
  2. Provide your mobile number and six-digit PIN number and select SAVE.

I can't register because my phone number is already in the system? What do I do?

If you are unable to register for wCharge because the system believes your mobile number is already being used, you can deactivate that number and register a new account. You will receive a notification during registration if your account is being used and a new form will appear allowing you to deactivate your account.

  1. In the section called "Send Deactivation Code", enter your mobile number and select your carrier to have the deactivation code sent via email to your email address.
  2. Once you receive this information, enter your mobile number and deactivation code into the section called "Deactivate Mobile Number" on this page to deactivate the account.

I'm having problems registering, is there a technical support phone number I can call?

For any issues relating to registering your wCharge account or setting up your payment gateway, the following technical support options are available:

Can I view my transaction history online?

You can view all transactions processed using wCharge by accessing your payment gateway's website.

Is there a way to add multiple users to my account?

Yes, you can add more phone numbers to your account as sub-accounts through your online dashboard when you log into your account at http://www.wCharge.com. This allows the account owner to have multiple phone numbers under their account using the same payment gateway account and wCharge account.

  1. Once you have logged into your account at http://www.wCharge.com click Add Account...
  2. Fill in all the necessary information and click Add User

What is Mobile Access and how do I enable it?

Mobile Access allows a mobile capable device access to process transactions. If this access is disabled they will not be able to process transactions. To view whether you have Mobile Access enabled log into your account at http://www.wCharge.com. Under the Actions field you will see Mobile Access enabled or Mobile Access disabled. Note that you need to have Mobile Access enabled if you are using the iPhone, Android, and Blackberry versions of wCharge.

  1. If your Mobile Access is disabled Click on Enable/Disable Mobile Access…
  2. Select the check box corresponding to the mobile number you which to enable.
  3. A tally of your monthly subscription charge will appear at the top of the screen.
  4. Once you have selected all the desired mobile number hit Update at the bottom of the screen.
  5. Enter in your desired payment method and select Submit.
  6. Those selected numbers will now be able to process transactions.

Can I change my PIN?

We do not recommend changing your PIN unless it is absolutely necessary. In the event that you need to change your PIN, follow these steps:

  1. Log into your account at http://www.wCharge.com.
  2. Select the Edit User button to edit the account details.
  3. Type the new PIN in the PIN field and select the Update button.
  4. The PIN has been changed.
  5. Keep in mind that the new pin will have to be entered into your mobile device.

I only need to run transactions during certain periods of time. Can I start my service during peak months and stop during slow months?

Yes. You have the option to start and stop your service without encurring any penalties. For those who have downloaded the application through AT&T's or Verizon's catalog please contact your carrier for details on cancelling your subscription. For those who have enabled their mobile access through their wCharge Dashboard simply login to your wCharge account at www.wCharge.com, select "Enable/Disable Mobile Access", uncheck the phone numbers which you no longer wish to pay for and select Update. When the time comes to re-enable your mobile access log into your wCharge account, select "Enable/Disable Mobile Access", check the box which you wish to activate, select update and go through the payment options to enable your mobile access.

I no longer wish to have a wCharge account. How do I cancel my account for good?

To fully cancel your wCharge account, log into your wCharge account at www.wcharge.com and select "Cancel Account". Agree to the cancellation to complete the process.

I keep getting Error code 10002 when I run a transaction using PayPal.

Error code 10002 occurs when all of your API access levels have not been selected. To resolve this issue log into your PayPal account...

  1. From your Merchant Manager screen make sure the "My Account" tab is selected.
  2. Select "Profiles" from under the My Accounts tab.
  3. Under Account Information select "Request API Credentials."
  4. Select "Set up PayPal API credentials and permission" in the Options 1 - PayPal API box.
  5. In the Options 1 box select "Add or edit API permissions".
  6. You should now see a Transaction Wireless API.
  7. Select Edit for the Transaction Wireless API.
  8. Verify that you have "DoDirectPayments" selected. If it is not selected please select it.
  9. Scroll down and hit Submit.
  10. Run a test transaction on your phone to verify fix.

I keep getting Error code 10501 when I run a transaction using PayPal.

Error code 10501 occurs when you do not have Websites Payments Pro set to 'Live' from within your PayPal account. It is recommended you contact PayPal support at (888) 572-9725 for assistance in activating Websites Payments Pro.

What countries is your service available for?

PayPal accounts will be able to use the wCharge application in Canada and the U.S. The option for selecting your desired currency is available in the setup screen and is available for iPhone, Android, BlackBerry and other Mobile Browser Capable phones. The application available through AT&T's MEdia Mall Catalog and Verizon's Get It Now/Media Center Catalog can only run transactions using U.S. Currency. Authorize.net, E-Online Data and PayFlow Pro accounts are available only using U.S. currency.

What is an enterprise account and what are its benefits?

An enterprise account is an account containing 10 or more users. It has the added benefit of a discount in pricing. To obtain the discounts in pricing email enterprise@wcharge.com.
